I’m horrible at planning stuff. I have written out topics I want to write about for this challenge but when it comes down to sitting down and writing, I no longer feel inspired to write about that topic. For example today. Today I was going to talk about my maiden name Butler, its history and origin but now I feel like writing about books. So I’m going to share my top three favorite books. These are the books I like to read a million times. These are also probably the rattiest books in my collection because I carry them around with me so often when I reread them.
As soon as I found out we were going to Japan I pulled Memoirs Of A Geisha out and started reading it again. I read this book every year. I love the imagery. I love to get lost in the story and imagine growing up in Japan in the 30’s and 40’s watching Chiyo grow up into a Geisha. I can’t wait to go to Gion and see if these places still exist.
I love crime books. I love trying to figure out who is the murderer. I figure this book would be like other typical crime book. Yeah I had heard there were some twists but I thought they would be typical twist I have read in different books. Nope nope nope. This book had me so confused I stopped half way through the book and started over again because I was sure I had missed some major clues. If you have read the book or seen the movie you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t I am not ruining the surprise for you. The twists are what made this book one of my favorites.
Anything by Steve Alton is amazing. Meg kicked off my love affair with his books. This is Jaws on crack. A giant Megalodon is attacking the coast of California. This is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. I have loved this book since I was in high school. The entire series is amazing.
