When I started researching this week’s topic, one celebrity came through like Al through an Ovilus. Rudolph Valentino seems to be everywhere. His spirit has been seen in so many places I don’t think I can fit it all into one post.
Rudolph has been seen or experienced most often at Falcon’s Lair, the estate he had built in 1925. Sadly he didn’t get a chance to live it that long before his death in August 1926. At Falcon’s Lair, people have reported seeing a shadowy figure that looks like him. They have heard footsteps when no one else is around. Doors have a tendency of flying open and slamming shut when there is no noticeable breeze. Rudolph has been sin in the hallways and wandering through the bedrooms. He has also been out in the stables grooming a horse that is also a ghost. Many people have heard horses snorting and kicking stall walls in the stables when there weren’t any horses in the stables at the time. Harry Carrey Sr. had moved in at one point but then had to move back out because he couldn’t keep staff at the house. Most of the activity is thought to be in part to the fact that Rudolph’s former caretaker held séances and offered late-night ghost hunts shortly after his death.
The spirit of Rudolph has also been seen at other locations around Hollywood. He has been seen at the Hollywood Hotel. Guests who stay in room 264 have reported being woken in the middle of the night. They say that they are startled to see Rudolph standing by their bed when they open their eyes. If the guest is female, he will kiss them on the forehead before fading away. He has also been seen at the Valentino Place Apartments. The tenants in that complex report seeing him walking down the hallway. At least one tenant has said that she has woken up and seen Rudolph lying beside her in bed.
At Paramount Studio’s, people have said that they have seen Rudolph wandering around. Employees have said they have seen him in the browsing through the costume department. Security guards also mention seeing him by the Lemon Grove Gate. They say that he is seen just hanging around the gate or walking through the gate. Most people think he is seen here because it is close to where he is interred at Hollywood Forever Cemetry. He has been seen in the cemetery as well. Even his dog as been seen roaming a cemetery. His dog, Kabar, has been seen pacing in Los Angeles Pet Cemetery. Kabar will vanish between the headstones, but guests have claimed to feel their hand being licked from a dog.
The oddest location that he has been spotted at is at Musso & Frank Grill in Hollywood. He has been seen hanging out by the ladies’ room. Female customers say they see a good looking man standing by the door in tan slacks and a white shirt. As they get closer, he vanishes.
Another place that he is seen is down on Will Rogers State Beach. People say they have seen him riding a white horse across the beach. They also say he is seen with a red rose in his teeth. Always the romantic, even in death.
I haven’t seen any of his films, but after reading about him, I want to see a couple when I get back from my trip. I am driving back tonight from Virginia. There won’t be a post on Monday but when posts resume on Wednesday, I have so much to catch y’all up on from the investigation last weekend and the trip I’m currently on. What do y’all have planned for this weekend?
