I love love LOVE subscription boxes!!! Today I’m so happy to receive TWO today! Yes, I did chase the mailman through the neighborhood to get them. I was too impatient to wait the hour it would take to get to my house. Jeremy laughed the entire time.
One is Escape Monthly and the other is The Better Half Box.
The Better Half Box was cool. This was their first box ever. There are some things I really like and some things hopefully they can work out for the next box. I really appreciate the new price point. Originally it was going to be $59.99 but they really listened to the feedback on Facebook and offered their first box for $29.99 with each box after that is $39.99 and free shipping.
I love the size of the box. It made it easy for the mailman to find it. He did make the comment that he was surprised that they use a white box. White boxes show damage and dirt easier than colored boxes (you can see the difference in the Escape Monthly box).
Upon opening it I was surprised by everything I saw. I was a little disappointed that none of it was a surprise since they showed tons of photos on Facebook. Half the fun is being surprised about what’s in the box.
These are hair ties. Yeah, hard to tell. I wish they were labeled better. I really like them. They are soft and seem really durable. I always wear hair ties on my left wrist but normal hair ties can get tight and rub my wrist raw (especially when new). I’ve been wearing the orange one all day and it feels great. It also seems to hold my hair great.
I love this product. It smells amazing and left my skin feeling soft. Even Jeremy, who can’t smell anything usually, liked the smell too.
The movie cards I could have done without. How are you suppose to test your trivia if the answer is centimeters from the question?
I love bath bombs. Luckily I got one in each box so I can compare the two. I haven’t used either yet but I can definitely tell a difference between the two. The one in The Better Half Box it smells nice but I figure once its in the bath I won’t be able to smell it. While I like the size of it, it is very crumbly and was already turning to powder in the bag.
I love the sugar crystals. They are Carolina Blue. I doubt I’ll use them for cocktails (I’m not that fancy!). I’m more likely to use them to decorate sugar cookies.
This was an awesome surprise! Love this lip cream. Its a pale pink. Its thick, creamy and matte. It feels great on.
This is the WHOLE reason I wanted the box to start with. I have been wanting a brush set. I have started getting into makeup and I have been needing this. I love these brushes. I can’t wait to use them.
All in all I think I want to get another The Better Half Box. Of course June’s box will need to be shipped to an FPO address if we can work that out. I’m hoping they will honor their free shipping when shipping to an FPO address.
This is my second Escape Monthly box. Jeremy got me one last month because they had a Japan box just in time for my birthday. The Japan box was cute but we were a little disappointed by it. We gave it a second try and WE LOVE IT!!!! It is the best box we have ever gotten. It well worth the $49.99 we paid for it.
The theme this month was Rocky Mountains. The mailman commented how amazing this box smelled in his truck. The entire ride to Wilmington, Jeremy and I could smell it. It was heaven. This month they didn’t do an in box brochure to explain what was in the box. They emailed it out which makes figuring out what’s in the box a little harder. I hope they go back to doing in box brochures.
You can’t have a box from the Rocky Mountains and not have something chocolaty. This candy bar was soooo yummy. Dark chocolate and almonds is always a winner. I don’t know why but I kept tasting slight bit of ginger even though it wasn’t listed in the ingredients.
I was excited to share this with Jeremy. He has never had preserves before. These are cherries soaked in passion fruit rum. In other words YUMS! Its tangy and tart. I wish I had a bigger jar!!!
This is the second of two bath bombs. This one is the size of a golf ball. It smells incredible. You can smell the mint outside of the box. It hasn’t crumbled at all. I really can’t wait to use this one!
I love this travel sunscreen. Living at the beach you need sunscreen. I love how I can clip it to my beach bag so I never forget. I love that it is unscented. It absorbs well but is a tiny bit greasy. I’ll try it next time I go to the beach.
I love this lotion. I love the size they sent. It smells great but even though it smells like raspberries, it reminds me of how new My Little Ponies smelled in the 80’s. It only takes only a tiny bit and it makes my skin feel soft. It isn’t greasy at all. I really love this lotion.
As a Southern girl, I love root beer. The best I have ever had was Amish root beer from Pennsylvania. The second best is this root beer. Its not as sweet as A&W or Mugg root beer. It also seems fizzier than those root beers. I love this soda.
I love handmade soaps. This soap smells awesome. I love the rosemary lavender scent. Its clean and woodsy and comforting. It smells strong but not over powering. I’m saving this for Japan.
I gave this to Jeremy since he likes peanut butter chocolate combos. He gave me a tiny bite. It was yummy. It taste just like Raggedy Robins. Jeremy wolfed it down. I think it he liked it.
In all of the Escape Monthly boxes you get a travel book for the area. This is nice (helpful in the Japan box) but I don’t know how much I will be using it.
All in all I liked both boxes. If I had to choose to keep one, I would have to go with go the Escape Monthly box. This one seemed more tailored to me. It has more things that I will use right away or save for a special occasion. Jeremy and I decided to keep both of them. I know Escape Monthly ships to FPO addresses at no additional charge. Hopefully The Better Half Box will do the same. I’ll update my address in their systems once we have our new address.
I liked the Better Half Box and can’t wait to see how the second box turns out. It seems promising. If you would like to order yours please click here.
I loved the Escape Monthly box. I hope the next box is just as exciting.
I can’t wait to see what the next location is. If you would like to order an Escape Monthly box, please click here.
