Be sure to read all the way to bottom for some cool announcements! Big things are coming and I can’t wait to share them with y’all.
This past week has been a busy one. Thankfully Jeremy had Thanksgiving Day off. I had hired a local woman, Penny, to cater our Thanksgiving meal because I didn’t want to deal with cooking and cleaning on what I thought would be his only day off that week. We all enjoyed the food. Even Valar Morghulis got his own plate of yummy food.
That weekend Jeremy surprised me with having BOTH Saturday and Sunday off! If you understand recruiting hours you understand how rare it is to have a whole weekend off during recruiting. Heck, Jeremy didn’t get a whole weekend off the weekend of our ball in St Louis last month. We spent the weekend having date days. On Saturday we went to Applebee’s for lunch and then we went to Champaign’s Parade of Lights. It was fun seeing a parade again after not seeing one the whole time we were in Japan.
On Sunday we went to the movies to see Instant Family. We both loved that movie. Not just because it was a great story but also because Pete and Ellie are almost exactly how Jeremy and I are personality wise. We both laughed and cried (okay I was the one crying) during the movie. Maybe one day we will be able to foster or adopt kids. It is something we have talked about before.
During this weekend Jeremy finally witnessed some of the spooky stuff happening in the house. While we were watching TV one night he heard the footsteps and something messing with stuff in the kitchen. All the cats were asleep in the living room with us and our neighbors were out of town at the time. Unfortunatley he wasn’t home when the upstairs bathroom lights turned off and then turned back on twice while I was in our bedroom reading. We have a serious of 4 lights above the bathroom sink. I could see two of them from where I was sitting on the bed. I could tell by how dark the room got that all the lights went out at the same time. The cats were in bed with me and the house wasn’t losing any power. Not sure what was causing the lights to go on and off but this is the second time this has happened (the first time was the bathroom downstairs though).
Then on Tuesday, I went to Springfield to hang out with a fellow recruiter wife, Avery, and her two adorable kids. Before I went down there though I had to stop off and pick up my engagement ring. About a month ago Jeremy and I had taken my ring in to be reset in a new ring. I love my original engagement ring but I had cracked the shank in Japan. Since it was originally set in sterling silver I wanted to upgrade it to white gold. We picked out a new mounting for the emerald in my original ring. Jeremy’s birthstone is emerald and mine is diamond. I didn’t want a diamond center but I love having Jeremy’s birthstone as the center stone. Now with its new setting, it looks even more gorgeous and the style is some. I love it so much! I can’t stop staring at it!
I was so excited to see Avery and her kids. I’m lucky she only lives an hour from us. We went out to lunch at a restaurant that Avery works at. She treated me to my first tuxedo chocolate cover strawberry! It was so yummy!! After lunch, we wanted to go ghost hunting but all the places that were listed on various sites as haunted locations were all closed. So we decided to go do a tour of Abraham Lincoln’s home. We were surprised to find out that as military spouses we were able to tour it for free. There is a great program that allows military families into state parks and state historic sites for free. There are also discounts on campsites and parking!!! Contact me for more information if you’re interested.
Lincoln’s house was very interesting. It was actually bigger than I was expecting. It was bigger than mine and Jeremy’s house is currently. Our tour guide was awesome. He had lots of jokes and was able to tell stories of the house’s inhabitants in an interesting way. I can’t wait to go back down to see more of the Lincoln sites in Springfield.
As I had promised at the beginning of this post, I do have a couple big announcements!
One is a giveaway that is coming up once my Facebook page hits 150 followers. We don’t have that far to go to reach the giveaway. The prize will be a ghost hunting equipment! Be sure to follow my Facebook page so you can be a part of the giveaway!
My second announcement is something that has been suggested and requested often from y’all. I will be starting a youtube channel at the beginning of the new year. It will be an extension of this blog. It will allow y’all an insight into our lives a little more, what it’s like to live with spirits, crafts and recipes, and behind the scene glances of my adventures I go on. Once I have it up and running I will share the link here on the blog. Please send me suggestions and questions to answer in the videos.
I have a lot of big things coming in the near future for this blog. I won’t share all of them right now but stay tuned. Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting!
