Now Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Content!

We are still setting up our house. We finally got a few more pieces of furniture for the house but it’s still 85% empty. A few more weeks and our main shipment should be here. We received our express shipment (which is half of kitchen stuff) last week. I have no idea where we are going to put everything. We have a lot less kitchen storage areas as we did in Iwakuni. We will make it work somehow though. We always do.

Did You Miss Me? I Missed Me.

I know I have been gone for 6 months. I apologize. These past few months I took off from not just blogging but pretty much everything. I let people get in my head and I believed them when they made it seem I wasn't good enough. Before April I was already struggling with not feeling good enough at photography, being a good friend, and just struggling with my own self image.

Starbucks, St Patrick’s Day, And Sex Toys (18+)

Since coming to Japan, one of the things that every wife seems to collect Starbucks mugs. I held out for about a year before I decided to start collecting them too. I bought a Hiroshima coffee mug shortly after I came back in November. Then in February Starbucks released their Sakura line of mugs. As usual, they sold out everywhere in about 48 hours. Luckily my neighbor, Dacia, was in Tokyo where they sell out a bit slower and was able to grab me one. It is a really pretty metallic hot pink travel mug. Two weeks after Starbucks released these mugs, they released the Purity line of Sakura mugs. Dacia and I decided to drive to Hiroshima the day they released to go pick up some new mugs.

Speeding Off To Adventure (Osaka & Kyoto Part One)

While Mom was here, the three of us went on our biggest trip yet. We decided to go check out Osaka and Kyoto. Osaka has a huge aquarium with whale sharks and Kyoto has been as much of a dream for Mom to visit as it was mine. We used ITT to plan the trip and to make all the travel arrangements. They really made it easy to plan such a trip.

A Juicy Jewel Hidden Near MCAS Iwakuni

Since I have been working hard to lose weight, Saori introduced me a great little shop near the back gate of base. It's a juice bar called Vegetrip. It's a really cute shop beside Mameka. Vegetrip offers a variety of healthy choices in the way of fresh pressed juices and smoothies. This is something that is unusual to find in Japan, especially in a small town like Iwakuni. It is refreshing to have an option like this and so close to base. The shop is really cute and has a small seating area so you can sit with friends while enjoying your juice. Saori went with me last week to grab a drink before lunch.

Playing Dress Up In Iwakuni

November is just around the corner. That means the Marine Corps Ball is coming up soon. Being overseas can make dress hunting a little difficult. Unless you have really good luck buying clothes off the internet your options usually are what you bring with you, what someone is selling on the classifieds, or if you can find something at the thrift store or the dress exchange. My friend, Anneliese, needed something to wear to the ball but wanted to try something different for this year's ball. She decided she wanted to wear a kimono.
