I know I have been gone for 6 months. I apologize. These past few months I took off from not just blogging but pretty much everything. I let people get in my head and I believed them when they made it seem I wasn't good enough. Before April I was already struggling with not feeling good enough at photography, being a good friend, and just struggling with my own self image.
For New Years Jeremy and I decided that we would stay in and celebrate with the cats. It had been a busy holiday for us and we wanted some down time to ourselves. For dinner Jeremy made a seafood feast of fish, shrimp, and crab. It was really delicious. I love how we have such a variety of fresh seafood out here. Jeremy has been using the opportunity to learn how to break down a fish properly. We watch shows like "Worst Cooks In America" or "Hell's Kitchen" and he has actually learned quite a bit from the shows. I'm so proud of how far his cooking skills have come.
One of the things I miss most about being in the States is the big holiday celebrations with friends and families. On Thanksgiving we always went to one of my aunts' houses in High Point or Mebane to celebrate with my mom's family. We were home the previous year for it because of Dad's funeral but last year was the first time that we would be celebrating Thanksgiving on our own. Since I was coming in so late the day before Thanksgiving, Jeremy and I decided that for Thanksgiving we would order a meal from JD's (a restaurant here on base). It had a turkey, some sides, and pie already cooked and ready to go. It was nice to sleep in and not have to worry about cooking a lot of food.
So a while back I wrote about how I tried to get cheap tickets to go back home. I thought I had gotten a great deal to fly home on China Eastern and JetBlue but I was soooooo wrong. I want to start this off with saying I love JetBlue! They offer amazing customer service and the flights with them were great. China Eastern on the other hand... I will NEVER EVER fly with them again.
With the year winding down I wanted to reach out to see how the holidays were treating all of you. I apologize for the lack posts. As you know, for the month of November I was home visiting family in the states. I had a great time and I loved seeing everyone I could.I have lots to share with you including two fun mini trips I took while in the states. I have those posts queued up to start being shared with y'all next week. I figured some fun adventures would be the right way to kick off the new year.
Today has been a very busy day yet it feels like I haven't done much. While I was busy cleaning up our hotel room Jeremy was dealing with the housing department. We are moving into our apartment Friday morning! I can see our new apartment from our bed. I'm happy it's close. It will make… Continue reading Encountering New Horizons
